The mountain town of Landau looks back on a 700-year-old history and even today many buildings and historical details remind us of its foundation. Since the Middle Ages the structure of the town has remained almost unchanged. The listed old centre is surrounded by half-timbered houses, city walls and gates, which symbolise its history and invite you to explore the location. Landau Castle was built in 1290 as a fortress, converted into a castle around 1330 and served for a long time as the residence of the Counts and Princes of Waldeck. Today it houses the registry office, an event complex and the Brunnenhaus Hotel with panoramic restaurant and sun terrace, which offers stylish overnight stays in a historical ambience.
